TEAM ENID - Dr. David Vanhooser and Aaron Brownlee
What is The Fireball Run?
Here are 10 Facts to help you quickly understand more about The Fireball Run:
- The Fireball Run is not the Cannonball Run. Teams are not allowed to speed and it is not a cross country car race.
- 40 driving teams solve clues and accomplish tasks to score points. The team with the most points at the end of the 8 day, 2,000 mile event wins. There is no prize money, only bragging rights and a plastic road sign. (think of it more like the Amazing Race on wheels)
- There are 8 featured cities from Frisco, TX to Independence MO during the event. Teams will arrive in Enid on September 30 and cross that days finish line at the court house Gazebo on Randolph between 3:30-6:00pm. Enid is the Day 4 stop: Other stops include Frisco, TX; Camden, AR; Ardmore, OK; Bentonville, AR; St. Robert, MO; Sedalia, MO; and Independence, MO.
- All 39 teams will line up and leave Enid on October 1 at the starting line at the court house Gazebo on Randolph between 8:00-9:30am. You can meet the celebrities, CEO's and business leaders before they leave.
- Enid is not only a destination city but we will have our own Team Enid entered in the Event. Dr. David Vanhooser and Aaron Brownlee will participate in the 8 day event in a 2009 Astin Martin owned by Vanhooser. If they win, we will have bragging rights for a year!
- Cars that have participated in past Fireball Run’s include the original Batmobile, the Delorean Time Car from “Back To The Future,” the Rally Fighter from “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” and representation from Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Jaguar and more. This will be a huge picture taking opportunity and a fun event for all local car clubs.
- Unlike Reality TV, this event is real and nothing is staged. The entire event will be streamed live to a world audience at FireballRun.com and filmed as part of a popular online TV series. The 2013 Fireball Run was viewed by 1.7 million unique visitors and elicited $56M in media exposure for host destinations. Season 8 with Enid will air sometime in 2015.
- Teams solve clues and accomplish tasks based on each destination’s points of interest, history and culture. This means that a potential of 1.7 million travel-centric viewers will see Enid and many of our best landmarks and destination spots.
- The event becomes an economic development opportunity for host destinations. Destinations are selected based upon their uniqueness, history, vitality, vibrancy, economic opportunity and human interest. Most team members have never been to Enid but learn about us leading up to the run and while they are here.
- The Fireball Run is also tied into a massive effort to recover America’s missing children. Since its inception in 2007, Fireball Run has aided in the recovery of 42 missing children. Team Enid has its own missing child who will be highlighted for the entire country to see.
So, as you can see this is much more than a car race. This is a huge opportunity for Enid to make an impression on not only the CEO's and business owners but also travelers all over the world looking for new destinations. It is very important for Enid to get behind this event and show up at the finish and starting line!
