A young male was struck by at least one vehicle, possibly two, while crossing W. Willow in front of Autry Tech. The incident report was on 11/11/2015 at 15:20:36. Location of the motor vehicle/pedestrian accident was listed as 1201 W. Willow Rd.

Relatives of the victim are concerned that there is no crosswalk or school zone in that area of W. Willow. Many students run across Willow to grab snacks at the convenience store across the street or are trying to get home.
-
The victim is currently in ICU and is awaiting a CT scan. He has a fractured sinus and needs surgery when he becomes stable. He may need surgery on a broken arm, his left kneecap is broken so he has a splint and he will be using a wheelchair for a while.

I believe the school is responsible for this accident. The school should have a crosswalk for extra protection for pedestrians. Not to mention, schools are responsible until students have returned home. Parents trust the schools to maintain a safe environment while in school or in their property. This wasn’t the case. I pray for the all students involved. The pain and suffering of the young man and the trauma of the students who hit him. I hope someone will build a go fund me account for this family.
