ENID, OK – Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies announced today the creation of its “Grants for Gratitude” program and awarded Waller Middle School teacher Janene Burns $1,000 for her creative efforts to teach gratitude to students.
-
“Learning to identify and express your gratitude is a pivotal life lesson and a core part of our company values,“ said Kyle Brownlee, chief executive officer of Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies. “Our hope is that the Grants for Gratitude program will inspire more schools to teach young people how showing gratitude positively affects your perspective, depth of relationships and overall happiness.”

Every year, Burns asks students in her sixth and seventh grade English classes to write a letter thanking someone who impacted their life. Students then call their influential person to read the letter aloud, and the project reached Wymer Brownlee this November when Accounting Specialist Janna Rader was the recipient of one such call.

“As a softball coach for Enid Public Schools, I’m passionate about working with young people, and I’m grateful to work for a company that supports and encourages me giving back in this way,” Rader said. “Receiving a call of gratitude from one of my players was a humbling and emotional moment for us both, and I love that this school project is blessing not only the recipient but also the giver and those who learn by watching the students share gratitude.”

Wymer Brownlee’s Grants for Gratitude program will take place annually, awarding one teacher $1,000 to use toward classroom supplies as recognition for his or her efforts to teach gratitude. Parents, students and members of the community may nominate a deserving teacher on wymerbrownlee.com/gratitude between the start of the school year and Thanksgiving break. For the2019-2020 school year, nominations will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 15, and the winner will be announced Monday, Dec. 2.
