A Celebration of Life for Wayne C. Fox, age 84, of Enid, will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Avenue, in Oklahoma City . The United States Air Force Honors Team will provide military honors at the graveside. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 5:30-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Wayne was born on July 16, 1940, in Wellington, Kansas, to Roy Benner and Mary Louise (Warne) Fox, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2024.
He grew up on a farm in Sumner County, Kansas, driving tractors, combines, putting up hay, feeding cattle, and hiring out to all the neighbors. Wayne attended grades 1-8 in a two-room school house in Rome, Kansas. He graduated from South Haven High School in 1958, then attended Kansas State University. He joined the Air Force in, February 1960, and served through February of 1964. During these four years, he was stationed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as he became an Airman 1st Class aircraft mechanic on F-100’s. Wayne completed Spartan School of Aeronautics in 1965, and also got his A&P license after passing his federal tests. He worked at Vance Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic for 41 years, retiring September, 2007.
Wayne married Jerri Sue deCordova on, October 8,1994, and they enjoyed thirty years of marriage. Wayne enjoyed being a part of the Master Garden Club, and could often be found in one of his many gardens. He was also a former square dancer with Shirts & Skirts, and belonged to the YMCA. Wayne and Jerri were members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church where Wayne was baptized, and they are now members of Oakwood Christian Church.
Wayne is proceeded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ralph Fox. He is survived by his wife, Jerri, of the home; daughters, Jennifer Elise and Jill Wallace (Troy), granddaughters, Lily Dry and Carmen Wallace; brother David Fox (Patti), sister-in-law; Vian Fox, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial contributions in Wayne’s name may be made to OMRF Alzheimer’s Division or Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
