Enid Walk of Fame to Honor Danahy & McKnight

ENID, OK - The 2024 Enid Walk of Fame (WOF) ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th at 9 a.m. in Grand Ballroom C at the Stride Bank Center.

The Enid Walk of Fame award is bestowed upon individuals who have:

- demonstrated a lifetime of service to the community,
- have made an extraordinary contribution, or
- have performed an act of selflessness or statesmanship for Enid.

Each year, this annual award is given by the Mayor on behalf of the City Commission during the Cherokee Strip Days celebration commemorating Enid's early pioneer spirit and heritage.

April Dahany, the living recipient, is an award-winning broadcaster, community advocate, and currently a senior vice president at Security National Bank. She created the community’s Shop Enid Candy Cane Cash and Enid Day at the Capitol while serving on Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce.

Lavonn Meier McKnight, the posthumous honoree, was well-known in the community as a psychometrist, educator, and tireless volunteer. She was a driving force behind and the first director of Enid Lights Up the Plains for Main Street Enid.

Many streets will be barricaded for the Cherokee Strip Parade in Downtown Enid. Walk of Fame Ceremony attendees can access the Stride Bank Center by way of the preferred barrier at the W. Owen K. Garriott and Independence Avenue intersection or by any other police-assisted barricades.
