ENID, OK - Each year a call is put out for volunteers to help augment the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legions’ mission of ensuring each Veteran tombstone receives an American flag over the Memorial Day weekend.
If you can join or gather support for all or anyone of the four times listed below, please join. This is a community event so bring your family to help each of the days and times.
1) American Legion will be supplying the flags for Enid Cemetery, 212 W. Willow Rd. They are estimating a few thousand tombstones needing flags. Volunteers would meet Thursday, May 23 at 5PM to start placing flags. Then on Wednesday, May 29 at 5PM volunteers will gather to collect all the flags. Both dates/times volunteers would be meeting the America Legion at the office building at the cemetery.
2) The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will be supplying the flags for North Enid Memorial Park Cemetery, 6405 Memorial Dr. They are estimating a few thousand tombstones needing flags. Volunteers would meet Friday, May 24 at 6PM to start placing flags. Then on Monday, May 27 at 6PM pick-up all flags. Both dates/times volunteers would be meeting the VFW at the office building at the cemetery.
