National Travel and Tourism Week is May 2-10. It's an annual tradition that was decided by Congressional resolution in 1983 and first celebrated in 1984. This annual event is aimed at promoting the power of travel, enhancing the country's economy and informing the public of the cultural and social benefits of travel and tourism.

In Garfield County, tourism represents $105.15 million in direct spending, generates 700 new jobs and saves every household $298 in taxes annually.

Visit Enid has introduced a "Hi From Enid" Summer Photo Contest at the beginning of National Travel and Tourism Week.

Take in all the sites and sounds of a First Friday downtown, learn about the unique way Enid was formed in Sept. 1893 at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, imagine, play, discover and learn at Leonardo's Children's Museum, see the new and improved Railroad Museum of Oklahoma and much more.
