Virginia Seelen

February 19, 1926 - May 27, 2022

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Virginia E. Seelen, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday May 2, 2022, in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Virginia was born February 19, 1926, to Samuel Gibson and Evelyn May (McCurry) Angus in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and passed from this life May 27, 2022, in Springfield Missouri.

She was raised and educated in Morrison by her grandparents and graduated from Morrison High School. Virginia married Robert Overbey in July 1945 until his death in 1946; she married Damon M, Seelen June 15, 1948, in Wellington, Kansas. She began her forty-four-year career with Southwestern Bell in Blackwell; moving to Enid for several years, then to New Orleans for eleven years. She retired in 1986 when the couple returned to Enid. In 2015 she moved to Springfield, Missouri to be near her family. She was a member of the Shriner Ladies, a fifty-year member of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of Emmanuel Enid. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing Tennis and Golf, Later years she enjoyed dancing, traveling in their RV in the US and cruise lines to many countries, along with spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed living at Lakewood Assisted Living in Springfield, MO with her best friends, Barbara and Jerry; along with the great food, faculty, staff and other residents.

She is survived by her three sons; Mike and wife Virginia Seelen, of Nixa, MO, David and wife Carolyn Seelen, of Blanchard, OK and Doug and Barbara Seelen, of Oklahoma City, OK. Step-daughter Lee Madura and husband Ken of Branson, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Overbey and her husband of fifty – one year’s, Damon M. Seelen and her parents.
