An enthusiastic golfer and a life-long student of guitar. A fan of four-letter words and colorful stories. Our dad Verl “Lee” Lacy passed away October 2, 2020. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
His journey of life started in Cedar Vale Kansas on January 29, 1933. The second child to Carl Lacy and Electa Imel. He grew up in Enid, Oklahoma educating many teachers along the way. “Lee“ had the spirit of adventure and joined the military as a dutiful young man. He served with the Oklahoma National guard mobilizing with them in 1950 and serving both in Korea and Japan.
After the service and completing his studies at Oklahoma A&M, Lee learned he had a gift for numbers. He went into the accounting profession. He worked for companies like Bond sign company, International Harvester and Blue Cross and Blue shield. Later hanging up his shingle to work independently.
After counting numbers he took up his second career at the local Walmart helping ladies pick out plants, men pick out hardware and children pick out stickers.
Waiting to greet him with open arms were his parents, his brother Burl Lavely and sisters Rae Soma and Ranae Powell. Also a life long character in his stories Ma’Damn Cat waiting in a Cadillac for him.
Survived by his three daughters, Debra (David) Graham -Baltimore MD, Teresa Thatcher and Larry Griffin-Enid Ok, Wynona (Phillip) Cook- Lawton OK. Five grandchildren and numerous great grand children.
The family will celebrate his life in the manner he would expect. To tell stories and share memories of his personality and wisdoms.
