A Celebration of Life Service for Tom Kirk, age 78, will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Wade Burleson and Chaplain Bill King officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Tom was born to Fred and Ethel (Hopkins) Kirk on September 11, 1938, in Oklahoma City, and passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Oklahoma City.
Tom grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. He attended O.S.U and Central State University. On December 29, 1959, Tom married Grace Snodgrass in Oklahoma City. They moved to Enid in 1966, where Tom went to work as librarian for Vance Air Force Base. He worked there for 37 years before retirement. Tom was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a volunteer at St. Mary’s. He was “Papa T” to his bonus family, Rebecca and Mary. Tom enjoyed camping in his RV, his koi pond, and his pets, Angel and Aby. He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed being with people.
He is survived by his wife Grace; brother Robert Kirk and wife Vicki of Hesperia, California, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his son Randy and daughter Brenda.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or St. Mary’s Volunteers.
