Toby TaVaughn Turner, 42 year-old Enid resident, passed peacefully September 7, 2020 at Enid Senior Care Living Center of complications associated with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Toby was born December 23, 1977. He graduated from Enid High School. He attended Cerritos College in California and studied Photography. He worked at the Co-Op in Waukomis, Oklahoma while holding certification in Forklift Operations at various other jobs until ALS claimed his health in 2017. He was a strong Christian family man who loved to serve the Lord and study the Bible. Toby was a church member of Grayson Missionary Baptist Church in Enid, Oklahoma under the leadership of Pastor Norris L. Williams. Toby was a loving and devoted father to Jaheim Turner who was his pride and joy. He was a socially active man who was deeply involved in family activities for the entirety of his life. He enjoyed drawing anything that he found interesting, especially Marvel comic characters and writing poetry. Toby’s family and friends will always remember him as a kind, generous, funny, and light-hearted person with a heart of gold. Toby TaVaughn Turner, your absence will be greatly felt in the world.
Toby is survived by uncles and aunts, Michael Burks; Debbie Freeman; Joyice Turner; Nancy Baker; siblings, Keysha (Stevelow) Taimi, California and Kelly Turner, Enid; Sherry and Larry Jr. Cheadle, Tulsa; children, Jaheim Turner and Tatum Alexander (Goddaughter) and numerous cousins and relatives who he considered siblings.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Julie Mae Burks and McKinley Burks; grandparents, Nancy Baker and Will Turner; parents, Bernice Turner and Larry Cheadle; uncles and aunts, Joe Harvey Baker; Terry Freeman; Lou Willie Turner (Willa).
The Going Home Service for Toby will be 11:00am Saturday, October 17, 2020 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Norris L. Williams officiating. Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
