ENID, OK - Two lifelong friends from Enid set out to jump on the podcasting bandwagon in early 2017. Curtis Tucker and Todd Wheeler met while attending Waller Junior High back in the 1970's. The duo stayed friends beyond high school and eventually decided to launch a few small businesses together.
-
One of the early companies they formed was BuzzHead Media LLC in which they set out to record different adventures and publish them on social media. Their first big break came when they got the call to drive to Tulsa for an interview with Garth Brooks as he kicked off his return to music tour.
-
Since that time BuzzHead Media has interviewed the likes of Michelle Malkin, Gene Simmons, Rodney Carrington, Ron White and many others. They've also launched an Internet radio station called BuzzHead Radio which can be heard 24/7 on TuneIn or at BuzzHeadRadio.com.
-
Tucker has been in the business of following online trends since before social media. Voice seems to be the next biggest play in reaching a wide audience so the duo is throwing everything into the audio industry.
-
Podcasting is slowly becoming more mainstream and many well known figures now have their own shows. "Coming up with a subject or a hook was the most difficult part," Tucker said, as they brainstormed podcast ideas. They decided to create a podcast about growing up in the 1970's.
-
After purchasing all of the needed equipment, BuzzHead Media setup shop in downtown Enid and started podcasting to the world in 2017. Their recording studio is located in the Triangle Business Center.
-
Their first "official" podcast is called "The 70's Buzz." They quickly recorded four episodes discussing green stamps, Farrah Fawcett, Jaws and Space Food Sticks. The episodes can be found in iTunes and Spreaker as well as all other major podcasting platforms like iHeart and TuneIn.
-
After reaching 50,000 downloads on "The 70's Buzz" podcast, the duo has launched a new podcast. "Those Buzz Guys" is a live morning talk show on BuzzHead Radio every weekday morning at 8:00am. The two record each episode and upload it as a daily podcast.
-
"Those Buzz Guys" cover local events and news from around Enid, Oklahoma but they also jump into what's buzzing around the world. Listen in and get the scoop on hot topics, famous birthdays and a daily poll question. There will be call in guests, free giveaways and unlimited buzz.
-
Tucker has also taken voice to one more level by creating the "Daily Enid Buzz" podcast. It is uploaded to the podcasting app Anchor and then posted as an Alexa skill on your Amazon Echo device. You can set the 3-5 minute podcast up as your Flash Briefing or News on your device.
-
It's a quick weather and event podcast with only one episode available at a time. It can also be heard on Anchor, Spotify or other podcasting networks.
-
You can also visit the two at their t-shirt shop called Bottle Cap Mercantile in the Triangle Business Center. Shop online at www.bcmerc.com. If you'd like to contact BuzzHead Media LLC with questions or to advertise you can reach them at buzz@buzzheadmedia.com or 580-977-9947.
