Terry Lynn Vance passed away at the age of 77 on May 11, 2024, in Leander, TX due to complications with stage 4 lung cancer.
He was born October 26, 1946, in Enid, OK, and grew up working the fields of the family wheat farm in Hillsdale, OK. Terry graduated from Hillsdale School as the Valedictorian in 1964 and went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. In September 1969 he married the love of his life Terry Dee (Kent) Vance. During their marriage, they lived in several cities across the U.S. including Palo Alto, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Washington, D.C., Santa Monica, CA, Boulder, CO, Trophy Club, TX, Eden Prairie, MN, and finally Leander, TX.
Terry spent his life in service to God, his country, his career, his community, and his loving family. He served the churches they attended in roles including Deacon, Treasurer, Building Committee Chairman, and Sunday School teacher, and during his service in the Air National Guard from 1969 to 1981 he reached the rank of Captain. Terry’s 43-year professional career focused on developing high-tech aerospace and telecommunications systems. He served the community of Trophy Club as a committee member to incorporate the development into a municipality, served on the initial City Council as a Councilman, Department Head, and Mayor Pro Tem, and led the development of Harmony Park. He loved traveling around the U.S. with his family including trips to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, a river trip down the Colorado River into Lake Powell, and Christmas in Hawaii among many others.
Terry's life was an example of a principled man with a visibly strong Christian faith, a willingness for self-sacrifice and hard work, and a deep love for his family.
