The Graveside service for Sydney Sue Rainey will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Enid Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home.
Sydney was born in the Enid on October 19, 1933 on her mother's birthday to Tom G. & Mildred Louise (Hartman) Rainey and passed away April 23, 2016.
She grew up in Enid area, attending public schools in Enid & Waukomis. After graduating from Enid High in 1951 where she was a cheerleader and active in school activities, she attended Phillips University. Sydney married George Axline in Enid in 1954 and out of that union the couple had two daughters. On July 21, 1978, she married Darrell Carlisle in Enid. The couple then relocated to Woodward where they operated Carlisle Bros. Contracting. Darrell passed in 1985. She then entered a long term relationship with Gene Traynor of Enid, until his passing in 2002.
Sydney lived most of her life in Enid, a community she loved, working as a medical secretary and transcriptionist. She belonged to Enid Golden Gals Social Club and Enid High Class of 51 reunion committee. She loved to dance from an early age. She also enjoyed art, astrology, plants, gardening, animals, and her computer. She deeply loved her family and friends and will be missed by all of them.
Sydney is survived by daughters, Cyndi Renner and husband, Keith of Topeka, KS; Pam Plank of Enid; Tracy Fish-McCown and husband, Trent of Garnett, KS; grandchildren, Jayda Rupp and husband, Russ; Kirsi Renner; Todd Renner and wife, Dani all of Topeka, KS; Sunshine Mathes and husband, Robbie; Trey McCain and wife, Shannon both of Elk City, OK; Melissa McCarter and husband, Luke of Wichita and Tessa McCown of Garnett, KS; great-grandchildren, Elle Schell, Jaden Rupp, Jacelyn Rupp, Sydney Stevens, Reese Renner, Emiley Mathes, Madyson Mathes, Taylor Ford and Tralee McCain. Also her dog, Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy G. (Gib) Rainey; grandparents, George and Luretta Rainey of Enid; Roy and Alyce Hartman of Blackwell. Memorial contributions may be made to Enid SPCA with the funeral home acting as custodian of the fund.
