ENID, OK - Enid Police officers located and arrested 51-year-old Michael S. Geiger this morning after an hours long search.
Geiger, a suspect in the homicide of a child earlier this morning, was located on the rooftop of a business near the Grand Prairie Motel, 2818 S. Van Buren, formerly the OYO Motel.
At 1:47 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the motel in reference to a medical emergency. The 911 call reported a child drowning in the motel’s pool.
Officers arrived and found the 2-year-old child had been removed from the pool. Officers performed CPR until Life EMS arrived on the scene. They transported the child to Integris Bass Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
It was noted the girl had injuries consistent with a sexual assault.
During their investigation, officers determined Geiger was person of interest in the girl’s death.
EPD Detectives were contacted and sent to the motel to begin their investigation.
Geiger fled the motel prior to officers arriving and was seen on foot heading northwest. A K-9 officer responded to the scene to begin a track but lost Geiger’s trail near Richland Road when it began to rain.
After an intense search by all available officers, at 9:13 a.m., Geiger was located on top of a building at 2710 S. Van Buren and taken into custody on a complaints of first-degree murder and first-degree rape.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
“This was an aggravated assault on an innocent child and a very disturbing incident,” Lt. Bryan Hart said. “We’re glad this case was brought to an end in a timely manner with Mr. Geiger’s arrest.”
Oklahoma Department of Corrections’ records show Geiger was discharged from ODOC custody March 29, 2022, on a 10-year sentence for a charge of kidnapping out of Oklahoma County.
