ENID, OK - There are several exciting Band opportunities this summer before school starts. Enjoy Summer Band at OBA from Monday thru Thursday, August 5,6,7,8. Mr. and Mrs. Toelle will be teaching the classes. The cost is $30 and you can take one or all classes.

9-9:50a.m. - Beginning Band/Switcher Class

This class is for any student starting in Band or any student that wants to learn a new instrument. We will test mouthpieces the first day. There are a limited amount of school instruments. Remember 5th grade is the time to start in Band, although some do start as young as 4th or 5th grade. Adults are welcome too! Parent/ Grandparents. We would love to have some Piano players to play Bells and Xylophone/Percussion. Instruments and books can be purchased or rented from Midwest Music in the Indian Hills shopping center on Owen K. Garriott.

Please beware of no name brand instruments on the internet or in Pawn Shops. We will be glad to help you find the best quality affordable instrument. Just let us know and we will be happy to visit with you.

If getting a used instrument from a friend or relative, please have it checked out at Midwest music. You will need Essential Elements Book 1 for your instrument.

10-10:50a.m. – 7th and 8th Band class – we will use Essential Elements Book 2 for your instrument

This class is for 2nd or 3rd year Band students and a great way to get a head start for the new school year. We will be working on warm-ups, scales, exercises and music. Students will have an opportunity to direct as well.

11-11:50a.m. – Jazz Band & Jazz Improvisation Class – we will use Essential Jazz for your instrument

This class is for all grade levels except for beginners. We will be learning to play and improvise in the style of the great American art form……JAZZ! Students will learn to plays tunes and make up solo’s using blues scales.
