The family visitation celebrating and honoring the life of Steven “Steve” Stovall, 68, of Douglas, OK will be held 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday December 16, 2023, at Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home in Enid, OK.
Steve was born January 11, 1955, to Jack and Joan Stovall in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life December 9, 2023, in the comfort of his home in Douglas, Oklahoma.
Steve was raised and educated during his younger years in Garber, OK until moving to Enid in Junior high. He attended Pioneer High School playing Baseball and Basketball, graduating in 1973. He attended college for two years and then joined the work force in Enid, working in building supply sales. Enid is where he met the love of his life, Bridget Lumbers. Steve and Bridget were married on Friday May 13, 1977, in Perry, OK. The couple moved to Texas shortly after they were married. Steve worked for Central Freight lines in Dallas, Texas while attending classes at Waxahachie Bible School in Waxahachie, Texas from 1977 to 1979. In May 1979 he and Bridget began working with Teen Challenge Ministry with troubled juveniles between the ages of 12 to 18 outside of Winnsboro, Texas where they left a lasting impact on the lives of many a youth and their families. In 1987 he and Bridget returned their young family to Oklahoma moving to Douglas where Steve worked with his father’s oilfield company, SOS Recovery, until his retirement in 2017.
Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife and friends, fishing, archery hunting turkey and deer, and sharing his love of hunting with others. When he wasn’t hunting, he was planning his next hunt or talking to Tommy about where they were going to set up their stands for the next season. He also enjoyed working on classic vehicles and other various creations in his shop. He was a talented guitar player and enjoyed sharing his love of music with his family and church community. The greatest joy in his life was going on adventures with Bridget and following his children and grandchildren around.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bridget Stovall, of the home in Douglas, OK two Daughters, Crystal House and husband Jake House of Yukon, OK and Stephne Smith, of Enid, Ok; his Grandchildren Chloe Wright and husband Bailey Wright, Kyler George, Greg Smith, Grant Smith and wife Ariel Smith, Bianca House and Hadley House; Sister Cate Stovall, Brother-in-law Mike Lumbers and wife Patty Lumbers, Sister-In-Law Sharon Skouby and husband Allan Skouby; nephews and nieces Matt Lumbers and wife Shelly Lumbers, Luke Lumbers, Haley Jones and husband Shawn Jones, Matt Simpson, Shelby Simpson, Jay Yowell and wife Jamie Yowell, Treg Yowell and wife Terry Yowell as well as many other family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Stovall and Joan Crews-Thorp and grandson Kaleb George.
The family requests that memorials be made in Steve’s honor to Fight Oar Die: Kaleb George Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers or plants with Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home serving as custodian of the funds.
