OKC, OK - Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law back in April that will allow the speed limit to be increased on portions of Oklahoma turnpikes from 75 to 80 mph and it will officially take effect on Friday, November 1, 2019.

The bill will allow the speed limit to be increased on sections of the turnpikes outside city limits. It will also allow the speed limit to be increased from 70 to 75 mph on certain state highways.

The state will use traffic and engineering studies that take into consideration things such as traffic density and infrastructure quality to determine where they can safely increase the speed limits.
