ENID, OK - Okay, so you may have noticed no updates on the Facebook page lately. Yours truly got slapped on the hand by Facebook and was sent to the corner for a three day suspension. I am unable to do anything on my personal account and all pages connected with that account. Not even able to comment.
-
Why you might ask is That Buzz Guy in time out? I broke a rule that I didn't realize I was breaking, sorta. You see, there are all of these really cool videos on Facebook that many pages put out and love for people to watch and share. I started sharing many of them last year and noticed they never reached as many people as videos I uploaded myself.
-
In a test, I downloaded of few of the other videos and then in turn uploaded them to the Enid Buzz page. Well, they started reaching way more people than just sharing, blame Facebook for that. So, I started sharing more and more videos that way spreading the love for others pages. All videos were clearly marked by who had created them and I never altered or claimed to have created them.
-
A couple of months ago I got a message from Facebook saying I could no longer upload copyrighted videos. So I stopped uploading anything I thought might cause a copyright infringement not thinking cheesy little recipe videos needed to be copyrighted. I uploaded one of those and got a second message.
-
So I stopped uploading videos I had not created. That was several months ago. This last weekend I had to do some work from a location that forced me to use one of my computers I have not used in a while for Facebook. I had already been on Facebook several times that day from my other devices and had no problem.
-
When I logged into my Facebook account from that laptop it asked me to log in which I normally don't need to because I'm usually logged in. As soon as I logged in I got that video warning message again. I thought it was weird because I had stopped uploading videos months prior. After that moment I was locked out for my three day suspension.
-
I understand the reason for warning and locking users out for continued abuse of rules but I hadn't uploaded any videos. I believe there must have been some warning stuck in messages somewhere that I never received and logging in from another computer knocked it loose. Kind of like when you find those mysterious messages from friends and clients that were sent months and years ago that you've never seen.
-
Anyway, Facebook gives you no way of fighting the suspension and there are no real humans you can contact at Facebook. Other than the stupid algorithm this is one of the reasons I hate Facebook. They control my page and can shut it down at anytime for any reason. They also control your personal pages and can shut them down as well.

Please don't forget that Enid Buzz was around way before Facebook was a thing. Our blog/website was up and running years before we ever setup a Facebook page. So don't always rely on Facebook for our news and updates. There are lots of posts many of you miss due to their algorithm, some people even stop seeing all of our posts all together, especially if they don't engage with them in any way.
-
Enid Buzz is this website, we also now have a backup Facebook Page, a backup website, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, a Mobile App, Tumblr, SnapChat and more places to find our updates.
-
Keep coming to the website and we'll keep you updated. Our suspension ends sometime around 4-5pm on Tuesday. Yeah, we'll start updating again then but this little break has been nice and we sure wish many of you would leave the comfort of Facebook and venture to our other media sources like blogs, podcasts, YouTube channels and more. Thanks for checking in, we'll be out of the corner soon.
