A funeral for Shirley Smith, age 90, will be Saturday, November 25 at 11 o’clock a.m. at Your Family Church, 1301 N. Independence in Enid, Oklahoma, with Rev. Rick Dominic officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, November 24, from 5:30 to 7:00 at the funeral home.

Shirley Smith was born to Benjamin and Eva Garrison in Rock Springs, Wyoming on May 26, 1927, and went to be with the Lord in Perry, Oklahoma, on November 15, 2017. Shirley’s life was filled with loving acts of self-sacrifice and service as a reflection of her deep and abiding faith. She was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church, now Your Family Church. Among her many gifts was her ability to extend grace and hospitality. Whether cooking for her cherished family or college students or her church family, her joy for serving was a delight to all.

On June 8, 1943, Shirley married James W. Smith in O’Kean, Arkansas and their 59 years of marriage is an example of abiding love and joy. She is preceded in death by her husband, her son James David Smith and Suellen Singer who was like a daughter. Shirley is survived by her children Benny L. Smith and his wife Linda of Perry, Sheryl Smith of Arkansas, Bonnie Bemis and her husband Jim of Minnesota, Kathy Spratt and her husband Robert of Florida, Karen King and her husband Bob of Norman; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Shirley also embraced the Singer family as her own.
