Memorial service for Shirley Daykin, 82 of Enid, will be 2:00 pm November 6, 2018 in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Matt Miles officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Enid Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Shirley Louise Sugg was born December 8, 1935 in Idabel, Oklahoma to F.E. “Bud” and Jessye L. Suggs and died on October 31, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma with her husband Leroy by her side.

At the age of one year her parents relocated to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Where she grew up receiving her education. She attended Garfield Elementary, Ponca Junior High and Ponca City High School. Shirley became a Master Instructor in Cosmetology in 1973 and started teaching in Oklahoma City schools for a number of years. She retired from teaching and moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was a medical assistant for Dr. William Van Wey.

In December of 1988, she married Leroy E. Daykin of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and they made their home west of Bartlesville in Osage County, Oklahoma. In 2002, they sold their home and returned to Enid, Oklahoma.

She was a Genealogist, researching the Daykin clan of Scotland/England, Mr. Daykins Mothers family Sands and McDonald, also both sides of her family Suggs and German along with the intermarried families. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts of different kinds as well as square dancing and round dancing. She was a member of Jane Phillips, Swingin’ Squares, Drifters and Pioneer dance clubs.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Leroy Daykin of the home; three daughters, Debora Laird, Deana Rowley and Dana Crawford, all of Oklahoma City; four granddaughters, Jamie, Stacy, Kelli, and Lenore; brother, Walter Lynn Suggs of Ponca City; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
