Rupe Avenue Bridge Reopens

-
ENID, OK - June 26, 2017 - City officials announced today the reopening of the Rupe Avenue bridge. The Rupe bridge project was completed in 180 days and included the rehab of the bridge deck, the diaphragm between the beams of the structure, and new guardrails.
-
The Rupe bridge project was part of the June 2008 $7 million general obligation bonds project impacting a total of 12 bridges exceeding the goal of seven bridges.

Mayor Bill Shewey said, “It's good to have the new bridge here. It's been here a long time, and it carries a lot of traffic to Meadowlake Park, to the golf course, and traffic coming and going to Vance Air Force Base. It's a good deal to have this reconstructed."
-
City Manager Jerald Gilbert was on hand at the reopening of the bridge Monday morning and offered words of encouragement to Enid residents regarding all the road improvements. Gilbert said, "We will have to be patient. It's worth the wait, and I think they'll see that when this bridge gets open. Phase One on Willow road will be open soon and they'll see the actual results of their tax dollars. So just hang in there with us. We're all in this together."
