ENID, OK - Enid resident and professional, Roxanne Pollard, has announced her candidacy for the open House District 41 seat currently being held by Rep. John Enns. Pollard will be running on the Republican ticket for the primary election in June 2018.

Pollard is running for state representative because she wants to help lead Oklahoma in a new direction so the state will be a place that values public education, supports families and small businesses, and upholds conservative principles. "I strongly believe we need to be doing things differently in this state if we are to expect future success," Pollard said.

Pollard, a certified surgical technologist/first assistant has spent her 35-year career in the health care field. Her husband, Barry Pollard, M.D., is a neurosurgeon with a medical practice in Enid for 35 years.
-
"Health care is an important issue that affects every Oklahoman, and I have a unique experience that I believe will serve our state well," Pollard said. "Government-controlled health care like ObamaCare is not the answer. Instead, we must give the states more control over federal health care dollars so each state is free to invest in what works best for their own citizens. The health care needs of Oklahomans are not the same as those of New Yorkers."

Supporting public education would be a top priority for Pollard. She is a current member and vice chair of the Autry Technology Center board. "I believe in public education at all levels," Pollard said. "Whether we are talking about common education, CareerTech or higher education, the state of Oklahoma should be investing in and supporting public education. I think that's one area where we can improve, and I hope to provide leadership to make us a more education-friendly state."

Pollard has chaired the Loaves & Fishes of NW Oklahoma board as well as the Enid YWCA. She also has served as the president or chair of Garfield County 4H/FFA Livestock Committee, Rural Health Projects of Northwest Oklahoma, Community Development Support Association, Surgical Technology Program and is a member of the Women for Oklahoma State University Council.
-
"I have always believed in serving my community," Pollard said. "It is an honor to be engaged in so many different areas of service where I have been able to make a difference in the lives of my fellow Oklahomans. I will take that same spirit of service to the state Legislature if I am entrusted with the office of state representative.”

Pollard and her husband farm and ranch in Garfield and Kingfisher counties, and operate a registered Angus cattle operation in Waukomis.
