On December 23, 1952, in Boise City, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl was born to Billy and Marjorie Wood. Their tiny bundle of joy had come 3 months early weighing only 2 pounds, 3 ounces. They decided to name her Rosa Lea. They soon began calling her Rosie. From the very beginning Rosie was a fighter. The doctor didn’t think she would make it, but with the tender loving care of the nurses at Cimarron Memorial Hospital, her parents’ love and prayers and the grace of God, Rosie made it. By the time Rosie was 12 months old, she wasn’t walking and her parents notices there was something wrong with her left eye. They took her to the doctor and he gave them the sad news that Rosie was blind in her left eye. She was fitted with her first pair of glasses, pink with white polka dots. She was unstoppable after that.

Rosie loved school and she loved reading. She graduated from Boise City High School in 1972. She was accepted into Northwestern University in Alva, Oklahoma, and started summer classes right after high school graduation. Rosie loved college and made a lot of good friends. She graduated in 3 years, majoring in Library Science and minoring in Journalism. She found a job teaching 7th and 8th grade History and opened a library at Lahoma Public Schools.

It was there she met Darrell Glaser and they were married on April 6, 1976. They made their home in Lahoma. On October 25, 1979 their son Michael Shawn Glaser was born. When Mikey was about 2 years old they moved to Cherokee, Oklahoma. They lived there 10 years and then returned to Lahoma.

Rosie lost a kidney due to Renal Cell Carcinoma in 2000. She also developed type 2 Diabetes. Darrell’s health was deteriorated and he passed away at home on October 25, 2001. Rosie and Mike were devastated. Darrell was only 45 years old.

In 2014, Mike and Rosie moved to Enid, and made their home on Forestridge Drive. Mike took wonderful care of his Mom, but her eyesight was deteriorating rapidly. She soon became totally blind. Rosie always tried to keep a positive attitude and laugh about things. Her health continued to decline and she had to enter Greenbrier Nursing Home in January 2019. Rosa passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid at the age of 68.

Rosa accomplished a lot in her lifetime to have been legally blind and then became totally blind. She loved life, her family and friends. She loved going to Crissy and Adam’s house and listening to the kids play and the little ones would tell her, “Aunt Wosie, I wove you.” Rosie first and foremost loved Jesus Chrsit her Savior. She was saved and baptized as a child at the Nazarene Church in Boise City. I know my Sister is rejoicing in Heaven and Praise the Lord her vision and her health have been restored. She’s no longer in the dark. We love you and miss miss you Rosie, Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend.

Rosa is survived by her son, Michael Glaser of Enid; mother, Marjorie Wood of Boise City; sister, Rhonda Holloway and her husband Terry, Rhoda Wingert and her husband Mitch of Boise City; 4 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews.
