Rodney (Fishing Rod) Dean Morris, 62, passed away on the 2nd of January 2021. Born December 24th 1958 in La Harpe, Illinois to James J. and Norma J. (Pratt) Morris of Stronghurst Illinois. He graduated from Galesburg Sr. High in 1978 and attended Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg, IL where he studied in welding and drafting. Later moving to Enid, OK in Dec 1981 Rodney married Julie Coleman in Enid on June 9th 1984. They spent their life together in Enid, OK until September 1992. They have two children who survived him, son, Aaron Roger Morris of Enid, Oklahoma and daughter Alanna Kay, wife of Josh Nichols, Helena Oklahoma. Rodney had two grandchildren the pride of his life. Kinslee Kay and Jace Dewane Nichols.
Rodney is also survived by his mother Norma J. Morris of Galesburg IL, siblings, brother Richard L. Morris and wife Joy Kay of Galesburg IL, brother Robert D. Morris and life partner Sharon Booth of Galesburg, and sister Deborah D. Wagner and husband Graeme, of Melbourne Australia, 4 nephews and 2 nieces, Edward Morris, James Morris, Robert Morris and Wendy Wagner all of Galesburg IL, Salina Gorman, GA, and Paul Wagner of Melbourne, Australia, 18 great nephews and nieces and 4 great great nephews and nieces. Rodney was known as a hard worker. He worked for Admiral/Maytag (Galesburg) before moving to Enid. He then worked for the City of Enid, Street Department. He also worked with his son Aaron on home renovations. In his spare time he poured concrete. He was a member of Twister Car Club in Enid, OK; everyone knew his 1950 Studebaker. Rodney enjoyed fishing, playing pool and farkle. His favorite sports teams are the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, OKC Thunder And Oklahoma Sooners.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father James J. Morris, Grandparents Clara Imogene (Steele) Pratt, Benjamin Eugene Pratt, Frank and Susie Jane (Mcgee) Morris and niece Heather Dawn Morris.
Rodney’s ashes will be interred at a later date, along with a memorial service for friends and family in Galesburg, Illinois.
