Robinson named Incoming EPS CFO/COO

ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools has named Sam Robinson as the district’s next Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
-
Board of Education members approved the hire during Monday night’s regular meeting. Robinson will succeed Karl White, who will retire on June 30. As CFO/COO, he will oversee the following departments: business, child nutrition, transportation, property services and construction management.
-
“Prior to coming to EPS as Longfellow Middle School Principal, Sam Robinson had successful experience as a high school principal at a campus roughly the size of Enid High School,” Floyd said. “Those invaluable experiences, combined with Sam’s high degree of intelligence, positive personality, good work ethic, and having taken the initiative to seek out and quickly learn a great deal about Oklahoma’s unique public school finance system, will serve him well as he steps into this crucial central office cabinet leadership role.”
-
Robinson joined the EPS team in 2016 and currently serves as principal of Longfellow Middle School. Previously, he was the principal of Azle High School, where he managed 145 employees and more than 1,700 students.
-
According to Robinson, the new position will allow him to impact learning districtwide by ensuring schools have the resources and support necessary to provide quality educational services for students.
-
“I am excited to join the EPS district leadership team and to work with district personnel to continue a tradition of excellence in fiscal responsibility, while meeting the needs of students and teachers,” Robinson said. “Having an opportunity to learn from and work with Mr. White prior to his retirement is a unique opportunity that I am looking forward to and am fortunate to be a part of. “
-
Robinson earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is currently completing his doctoral work through the University of North Texas.
-
Robinson will begin training with White this January for his new position and will oversee the duties fulltime beginning July 1.
-
Lynne Peters, the district’s Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, will serve as interim principal for Longfellow during the spring semester upon Robinson’s departure.
-
“Lynne Peters is an experienced school administrator, having served as both a middle school and high school assistant principal,” Floyd said. “She is excited to be a Longfellow Mustang, and we look forward to seeing the school continue to thrive and succeed under her leadership.”
-
White will be retiring after 44 years in public education, including 33 years as the chief financial officer for EPS. White, who is considered one of the foremost experts on Oklahoma school finance by his peers, has earned numerous awards during his career, including honors from the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials and the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration.
-
“There are no words to adequately describe Karl’s contribution to Enid Public Schools,” Floyd said. “His careful management of funds has allowed this district to navigate difficult financial times without sacrificing the quality that students deserve. His guidance has positioned us for a strong financial future, and we know Mr. Robinson will continue that tradition of excellence.”
