September 24, 1944 — November 7, 2024
Roberta Charlene Kappes-Maly was born on September 24, 1944, in Gracemont, Oklahoma to John Harlan Kappes and Florence Ruth Kappes. She went to her heavenly home on November 7, 2024, at the age of eighty. Roberta was raised in Enid, Oklahoma where she spent most of her life. She met the love of her life, George Maly, in 1968 and the two wed on November 10, 1969. Together they raised two daughters, Zelma Voss, and Billie Jo Greenfield.
Bert worked at the Northwest Oklahoma Orthopedic Clinic for 30 years. In her time there she was a dedicated nurse, helping many patients while also creating lifelong friendships with fellow nurses and doctors. During retirement, She and George moved to Nowata, Oklahoma, where they were very active in the Nowata Methodist Church. Her work there included the “Dinners with Love” program, which she adored. She enjoyed volunteering in her community, specifically in the elementary school cafeteria. You would often find her spending precious time with her sister Ruth Buller. Roberta loved shopping, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family. Her greatest blessings called her nana. She never met a stranger, and she gave the best hugs.
Roberta is preceded in death by her parents John and Florence Kappes, her siblings, Wilma Weil, Jack Kappes, Mickey Field, and John Kappes, her nephew Raymond Weil, and her beloved granddaughter Aspen Ross. She is survived by her husband George Maly, her daughter Zelma Voss and husband Jackie, her daughter Billie Jo Greenfield and husband Chris, her five grandchildren, Caysie Loyd, Chase Voss, Keaton Greenfield, James Voss, and Daniel Voss and nine great grandchildren her sister Ruth Buller and numerous nieces and nephews.
