Bert was born on the family farm in Jet, Oklahoma on March 3, 1926 to Ray and Helen (Thomas) Lambert, and she passed away peacefully at her home in Enid on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

She attended Jet Public Schools, graduating in 1943. She married Donald Patton December 31, 1947 in Cherokee, OK. Donald was a highway patrolman for Troop S in Garfield County for many years. They also continued to farm the family homestead. Bert started working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone right after graduating high school at the age of 17, never missing a day of work for over 42 years. She retired from the phone company after 42 of service. She and Donald were members of the First Christian Church of Cherokee. Bert was involved in different charities, but her favorite and the one she was most passionate about was the “Making A Difference” program that supplied back-packs and school supplies to needy school children. She loved to shop for the children of the Angel Tree program during the Christmas Holidays; she wanted all the children to have a merry Christmas. She was a volunteer at Integris Bass Hospital as a secretary for over 20 years. Bert was known for her kind and generous heart, and she was loved and respected by many.
-
Following Don’s death in 1987, Bert met Jim Scoggs, and they developed a friendship that lasted over 20 years. They traveled all over the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and other places. They enjoyed each other’s companionship and company until Jim passed away in 2011. Bert made many trips to spend time with her life-long, friend Katie White in Lindale, Texas. They had a lot of fun together shopping and traveling.

Bert is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Helen Lambert; husband Donald Patton; daughter, Brenda Sue Patton; and a brother, Jimmie Lambert. She is survived by sister-in-law Rose Lambert, of Moreno Valley, CA., and nephew, Ray Lambert and wife Lana, of Glenrose, TX; as well as many other great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
