A celebration of Life for Rita Joan (Pittman) Schoonover, 80, of Enid will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home in Enid, with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Fargo Cemetery in Fargo, Oklahoma. Arrangements made by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Rita was born March 19, 1943, in Gage, OK, to Art Pittman and Mary Alice (Wiesner) Pittman, and passed from this earth on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Enid.
Rita attended school in Gage, Oklahoma. She went on to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, graduating with her teaching degree. On August 18, 1964, she married Ray W. Schoonover. They moved to Enid in 1964.
Rita & Ray were married for 47 years. Rita was a school teacher at Lahoma & then taught at Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Elementary in Enid for many years. She was a children’s Sunday School teacher and long-standing member at Liberty Southern Baptist Church in Enid. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren, traveling with them and her husband Ray, and attending church almost every Sunday to sing in the choir.
Rita is survived by her daughter Sandra Hall (Jeff), Grandchildren Shelby Stotts (Heath), Riley Hall (Andersen); Step-daughter Toni Shroyer, Grandchildren Tiffany Wilkey (Scott), Ashley Glover (David); Great Grandchildren Decklan, Sloane & Sutton Stotts, Cole, Cade & Carlie Wilkey, Kellam & Harris Glover; Sister Arlene Britton and Brother Bill Pittman; and many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
She was preceded by her parents, husband Ray and brother Donnie Pittman.
