Funeral services for Rita Murray, 80 of Enid, will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm in Enid First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Barrick officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Viewing will be at the funeral home only.
Rita was born on June 17, 1940 to Hugh Tunis and Laurene Mackey Tunis of Garber Oklahoma, and passed away in Enid on Sunday May, 16. Her younger years were spent in Garber, attending Garber elementary schools, and then moved with the family to Enid, graduating from Enid High School.
She married Jerry Arlan Potter in Enid becoming an Air Force wife. Traveling from base to base, mostly in Oklahoma and Texas, she raised four children, Arlan, Clifford, Jerrikay, and Todd. She started as a stay-at-home mom until after the kids reached school age, and thereafter she worked at various places including Clean Clothes Rental, Northrup at Vance AFB, and Liberty Federal.
After the untimely death of her first husband Jerry Potter, Rita married Robert “Bob” Murray in 1992, and they were married almost 25 years making their home at 4305 Cascade in Enid.
Rita was a long time faithful member of Enid First Assembly and had a strong faith in God, and the salvation Jesus paid for her. She now has received the eternal life promised to each believer in Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jerry and Bob; sister, Patty Duncan.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Arlan and Rhonda Potter, Clifford and Theresa Potter, Jerrikay and Hayden Henry, Todd and Kat Potter; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; brother and wife, Jim and Sarah Tunis; sister and husband, Donna and Russell Bradt; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Enid First Assembly of God Church.
