Rick Manning

A celebration of the life of Richard Leon “Rick” Manning, 71, of Enid, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Bruce Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery. The family will host a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A Life Celebration Home.

Rick was born on November 4, 1953, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Dillon and Amy Helen Manning. He went to be with his Lord on November 17, 2024, surrounded by his family.

His father’s profession took their family to several different places when he was a child, they settled in Enid around 1961 where he grew up and attended Enid High School. On March 9, 1974, he married Debra Lynn Marsh. In 1978, he began a 30-year career with UPS, retiring in 2009. After retirement, Rick and Debra moved to Branson, Missouri, where he worked as a tour bus driver at Silver Dollar City. In 2019, they returned to Enid, and Rick began working as a bus driver for Enid Public Schools, where he remained a valued coworker and friend until his passing. Rick was a talented and hardworking man who could fix almost anything, from car repairs to home improvements. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to his family whenever needed. An avid outdoorsman, Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and competing in archery tournaments. In his younger years, he was part of a dirt track race team’s pit crew. A loyal sports fan, he cheered for the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and Dale Earnhardt. Above all, Rick loved supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events, finding immense joy in their achievements.

Rick is survived by his wife, Debra, and grandson Legend Manning, of the home; son Bruce Manning and wife Kristie, of Owasso; daughter Alisa Tefft and husband Chad, of Pond Creek; grandchildren Dylan and wife Tiara Tefft, Lauren, and Caden Tefft, and Macade Manning; great-grandchildren Brooks and London Tefft; three sisters, Sandy Brewer, Monna Barrick, and Carol James; and two brothers, G.A. Green and Jerry Green.

He was preceded in death by his son, Derrick Manning; his parents, Dillon and Amy Helen Manning; and his brother, Charles Manning.

Rick will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the love he poured into his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
