Richard R. Conrady was born Feb. 2, 1934 in Wakita, OK, to Frank and Katherine Conrady. He was the third of 12 children: 7 boys and 5 girls.
He attended St. Joseph’s Memorial Catholic School in Enid. In athletics he wore No. 22, which his younger siblings also wore for the next 20 years. He was named All-State in both basketball and baseball before graduating in 1951. He served two years in the U.S. Army (1954-1956), then studied and graduated from Central State University.
After college, he married and had 7 children. He worked for Bond Bakery, later going into business for himself in Clinton, Oklahoma, where he operated Western Maid Bread. He then moved to Bethany and purchased a restaurant to be known as Olde Orchard Restaurant, which he operated for 25 years. He was a hard-working man providing for his family of 9.
He later divorced and eventually married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Sue (Bledsoe) Conrady.
Richard loved attending Mass, spending time with his family and watching sports. He enjoyed playing golf, dominoes, and cards, especially pitch.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carolyn; Six children, Denise Cherry and her husband John, Paul Conrady and his wife Sharon, Greg Conrady and his wife Judy, David Conrady, Eric Conrady and his wife Shari, Amy Franklin, and her husband Ronnie, 1 step-son, Michael Wittwer, 22 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings, daughter Jeannene (Conrady) Wood, daughter-in-law Toni (Bennett) Conrady and grandson Cale Ryan Conrady.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, Oklahoma City. Interment will be Tuesday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.
