Funeral service for Richard Buchanan, 63, of Enid, will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 23, 2019 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.

Richard was born June 6, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Robert Lee and Edna Lorene (Grider) Buchanan, and passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in Enid.

Richard grew up in Oklahoma City, and attended Northwest Classen High School. He served in the United States Army for over 12 years. Richard was stationed in the Marshall Islands for radiation clean up. Then he was stationed in the United States as a chemical operations specialist and administration specialist. Richard ended his military career in Germany. Upon his discharge he went back to Oklahoma City where he worked at Johan’s Mechanical Shop for over 17 years, and several other automotive shops in the area. In 1974 Richard married Darlene Adkisson and they had 4 children. He later was married 2 other times. Richard moved to Enid in 2011 to be closer to his family. He loved to write music and play his guitar, enjoyed fishing, watching western shows, and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his children Shelly Carl (Bobby), Joni Philpot (Tracy), and Mark Buchanan (Misty) all of Enid; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Robert Stanley Buchanan; and 2 sisters Rita Kay Blakley and Linda Loraine Beltz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert Wayne, brothers Monte Joe, Daniel Eugene, Donald Wayne, Billy Hank, and sister Susan Annette Ethridge.
