Richard Dean Travis

August 8, 1957 - March 15, 2024

The funeral to celebrate the life of Richard “Rick” Dean Travis, 66, of Wakita, OK will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at World Harvest Church in Enid, with Brad Mendenhall and Craig Vickers officiating. Military graveside rites will follow conducted by the United States Army at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Services.

Rick was born August 8, 1957, in Enid, OK to Thelma Ann (Bokis) Travis and Ray Allen Travis and died Friday, March 15, 2024, at his home in Wakita. Rick grew up attending St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1972. Rick left high school early, enlisting in the Army where he was later honorably discharged. He married Christal Jean Whitlock on March 6, 1977, and later divorced on December 21, 2001.

Rick resided and worked in Enid for most of his life as a ‘jack of many trades’ from oil field driller, to trucking, mechanics, and carpentry. He was best known for his passion for graphic arts. Rick was self-taught in CAD, silk screen t-shirt printing, designing logos, hand-painting signs, and creating vinyl lettering for small businesses. Rick was also a talented writer often using it to witness online to his social media friends about his faith in Jesus Christ.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Ray Travis and daughter Marsha Lynn Whitlock. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Travis of Edmond, OK, three sisters, Rhonda White and husband Rex of Edmond, Kim Mullen and husband Mike of Enid, and Kathy Travis of Edmond, one brother, Danny Travis of Enid, six daughters, Heather Berry of Enid, Trisha Travis of Ada, OK, Traci Wright and husband Don Wright, III of Warner Robins, GA, Elizabeth Travis of Enid, Kristin Travis of Lamont, OK, Contessa Travis of Waukomis, OK, two sons, Cody Travis of Enid and Christopher Travis of Ponca City, OK, 19 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
