A Memorial Service for Richard Cornell will be held at a later date. There will be viewing for Richard Thursday and Friday, October 7th and 8th. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 pm- 8 pm. Cremation and service arrangements are directed by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Richard was born July 23, 1949 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Troy A. and Freda F. Cornell. He attended Crooked Oak High School until the summer of 1966 when the family moved to Ringwood following their dad where he was at the time. They loved it so much they stayed. Richard graduated 1967 from Ringwood High School.
He was drafted into the Army and served from February of 1969 to September of 1970. Serving in Vietnam, July of 1969 until discharge. While in Vietnam, he was the driver of the “Mighty Mini” gun truck. When returning he joined his father laying pipeline and farming with both his father and mother. After many years he then went to work at Pioneer Gas Plant (now Mustang) south of Ringwood. Working there until his retirement.
Richard is a member of the Ringwood Masonic Lodge 554, Fairview Masonic Lodge 377, Enid VVA chapter 940, American Legion Post 0340 Ames. Richard also rode several times with the Patriot Guard.
Richard enjoyed taking trips with his spouse on the trike and getting to see a lot of the U.S.A. His last trip was with just the guys.
He is survived by his wife, Jayniece; son, William Cornell and spouse Ryan, of Ringwood; daughters, Juliann and spouse Tyquan Pollard, of Enid, and Elizabeth Reicks and spouse Derek, of northwestern Michigan; father, Troy, of Ringwood; sister, Linda and spouse Lynn Sodowsky, of Ringwood; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas; mother, Freda and both sets of grandparents.
Memorial donations may be made to Ringwood United Methodist Church, Ringwood Masonic Lodge, Enid VVA or the American Legion of Ames with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
