ENID, OK - Do you love to grill? Are you better than most? Enter one of the 2018 Hanor Smokin' Red Dirt Barbecue cooking competitions. There's a call for entries for several competitions in the two-day grilling event on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21.

Entry deadlines are April 16, for the Western Sizzlin' Steak Cookoff, the Security National Bank/Tyson Foods People's Choice BBQ competition and the OG&E/Evan's Kids Q contest.

Eagle Marketing project coordinator Lynne Benkendorf is looking for amateur entrants for the free People's Choice barbecue competition. It's perfect for cooks who have experience in barbecue, but are not wanting to participate in KCBS competitions.

They are still looking for more people to enter for People's Choice. It is free to enter, and competitors have a chance at winning the $1,000 purse.

People's Choice entrants will be provided 16-18 racks of ribs to prepare for judging. The meat must be grilled and ready by 6pm on Friday, April 20. There will be an awards ceremony on Saturday, April 21 at 3pm.

The Kids Q competition is for the up and coming barbecue cook. It's an opportunity for kids to compete for prizes and cooking experience. Categories include 10-and-younger and 11-15 year-olds.

The 10-and-younger teams grill two pounds of hamburger, while the 11-15 year-olds grill a family pack of chicken thighs. Teams provide their own seasonings.

Kids Q teams will meet at 3:30pm on Friday, April 20 for set up and cooking. Judging takes place at 6:30pm. Entry fee is $12, which includes a 12-inch grill, which the kids take home afterward, and meat for the competition.

Amateur steak grillers will compete in the one-night Western Sizzlin' Steak Cookoff on Friday, April 20. The Steak Cookoff Association-sanctioned event begins at 5pm, followed by judging at 7:30pm and awards at 9pm.

Entry fee for the steak cookoff is $100, and entries must be registered at steakcookoff.com.
