ENID, OK - February 17, 2017 – The Red Carpet Country Executive Board has hired its first executive director in the organization’s history, naming Carla Burdick of Enid to that position. Her first day on the job was Wednesday, Feb. 15.
-
Carla Burdick most recently established the Coach-A-Kid Mentor Program at the United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma. Prior to that, she was the Community Development Executive and Service Unit Executive Manager for the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, presiding over much of the same territory she will be covering in Red Carpet Country.
-
“I am excited about this new opportunity,” Burdick said. “My goal is to bring an increased awareness about Red Carpet Country and the territory we serve to our potential visitors. Red Carpet Country offers so much natural beauty, a rich Western history and plenty of outdoor sporting opportunities. I’m looking forward to sharing everything Red Carpet Country has to offer.”
-
Burdick steps into the position after RCC Administrative Coordinator Jeannette Graves announced her retirement. Graves, who served Red Carpet Country for 31 years, received a citation from the Oklahoma Senate and House of Representatives recognizing her outstanding career of service to northwest and north central Oklahoma.
-
Burdick’s prior positions includes working as a buyer at Mervyn’s Department Stores and in various management positions at Dillard’s Department Stores. It was her sales and marketing background that impressed the RCC board, according to board president Andi Holland.
-
"We are thrilled that Carla has accepted the position of Executive Director for Red Carpet Country. Since its creation over 30 years ago, the organization has not had a person in that role. We could not have chosen a better person to fill this first-time position,” Holland said. “Carla is a true professional with years of administration and sales experience and it will be exciting to watch as Red Carpet Country scales new heights through her leadership."
-
Burdick is an Enid native and a graduate of Oklahoma State University. She and Chris, her husband of 32 years, have two children and one grandchild.
