The funeral for Ralph S. Lawson, 80 year-old Enid resident, will be 10:00AM Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tony Tolle officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.
Ralph was born September 12, 1940 in Enid to George and Betty (Kelley) Lawson and died Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1961.
On January 28, 1965, he married Lila Marie Meritt and the couple made their home in Enid. Ralph worked with the Enid News and Eagle for over 5fifty-five years before ill health forced him to retire last year.
He was an avid fisherman and liked to bowl but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
He is survived by his children, Kellie Pitts and husband, David of Seminole, OK; Chris Lawson, Cory Lawson and Yvone Young, all of Enid; two grandchildren, Kelsie Pitts; Kiersten McCormick and husband, Aaron, all of Seminole; two great-grandchildren, Lila and Levi and sister, Ethel Lawson of Enid as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lila in 2002; brother, Robert and grandson, Trenton Shaffer.
Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home to Shriners Hospitals.
