PLAINSMEN GREYBEARD CLUB
Have you been to an Enid High football game and enjoyed those great burgers that are served before the game? Have you seen those guys sweating over the hot grill making sure each patty is cooked to perfection? Ever wondered who they are and why they do it without getting paid?
The Greybeard Club is made up of ex plainsmen football players, young and old. Their mission is to have fun while creating an enjoyable atmosphere at Enid’s home football games by hosting tailgate parties open to the public. They have gone through many trials and tribulations for over a decade now.
In year one they begged and borrowed about everything that they used. Tables and chairs were the courtesy of the American Legion, they set up in the front yard of one of their co-workers while using the Enid fire departments cooker. As the years have passed they have built their own cooker, bought their own tables and chairs and have become self-sufficient.
The Greybeard parties have become a tradition unmatched in 6A football across the state. All the money that they have raised has been reinvested in EHS football equipment or has been used to help Enid athletics. With the help of Advance Foods, Enid High and Jumbos their donations back to the athletic program have become larger in recent years. A few years ago they joined other Plainsmen supporters and formed the Gridiron Club, enabling them to get a 501C-3 designation.
The Greybeard Club burgers are the perfect selection for any class high school reunion. Many classes have already used them to host a Friday night game and all of the proceeds help the team! On special occasions you can even hire them to gatherings away from the football field with a generous donation to the club.
So the next time you are at an Enid High football game and you see those guys working hard be sure and say hi and give them a big thank you from the residents of Enid!!
Thanks Greybeards!!
