Funeral services for Phyllis Joy Burns, 87, Enid, will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Pastor Lonnie J. Burns officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be in Burns Cemetery located at Sand Springs, Oklahoma, under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.
Phyllis was born on August 13, 1928 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marshall Hugh and Erma Rhea Hicks Shipley, and passed away peacefully on August 12, 2016 at her residence. She was raised and educated in Oklahoma City, graduating from Classen High School with the class of 1946. Phyllis attended OKC Junior College from 1947-1948 and married Robert Louis Burns in Oklahoma City on April 17, 1951. They moved to Sand Springs in 1963 and in 2007, Phyllis moved to Enid. Survivors include, her daugher, Carolyn Akins of the residence; son, Robert Burns, II of Mary Esther, Florida; a sister, Judith Davis of Edmond; grandchildren, Shannon Akins and Michael Burns; great-grandchildren, Raven Akins, Landon Akins, Cadence McFadden, Justice McFadden, and Kendal Burns.
Phyllis was preceded in passing by her parents, husband Robert, Sr., granddaughter Tiffany McFadden, and grandson, Robbie Burns. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
