A Celebration of Life Service for Phillip E. "Phil" Bennett, age 83 years, of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the First Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The Enid Fire Department Honor Guard will provide honors at the church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Phil was born on May 27, 1939 in Manchester, OK to Joseph and Inez Bennett and went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 22, 2023. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Bellamy, on October 16, 1964.
Phil was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Phil served in the Army from 1961-1963. In December of 1967, he joined the Enid Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant in August 1994. After retirement Phil worked remodeling homes, enjoyed travel with his wife Bonnie, and spending time with his family and friends. Phil gave his heart to Jesus in 1970 and it drastically changed the course of his and his family’s life. He was an active member of Enid First Church of the Nazarene. He had a heart for global missions and served on numerous mission teams.
Phil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie; three daughters Teresa (David) Buckles of Enid, OK; Melissa (Canuky) Alwert of Owasso, OK; Cori (Gary) Young of Lubbock, TX; eight grandchildren, Shaun, (Chelsey) Buckles, Shanna (Michael) Winterbank, Shaphen Alwert, Mikaela (Sean) Weatherly, Hannah Alwert, Elijah (MacKenzie) Alwert, Katie Young, and Cooper Young; as well as two great-grandsons, Greyson and Madden Winterbank, Siblings Bob (Carolyn) Bennett, Minnie Terry, Iona Sallee, and Marjorie (C.W.) Simmons.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Bennett, sister, Betty Bryant, and brothers-in-law John Terry and Wes Sallee, sister-in-law Lavada Bennett.
Memorials contributions in Phil’s name may be made to Enid First Church of the Nazarene World Mission Fund with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
