The funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Patricia A. Guthrie, 85, of Enid will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday August 19, 2016 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Frisbie officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Patricia was born January 22, 1931, in Bonham, TX to Finace and Pearl Rogers Fletcher and passed away August 15, 2016 in Enid. Patricia’s family moved back and forth between Bonham, Tx and Enid, before moving to Detroit, Michigan during WWII. They returned to Enid where she completed junior high. Before her senior year, they moved back to Bonham, where she graduated from Bonham High in 1948. Patricia continued her education at the Enid Business College. She married James Choate and their marriage dissolved after the loss of their son, James Cameron Choate. Patricia moved back to Detroit where she worked at the Soda Fountain in Woolsworth and sang commercial jingles live on the radio. Patricia married Dale Biggs and returned to Enid with her son, Kevin Biggs after their divorce. She worked in the The Café which she later purchased and operated until 1966. In 1959, Patricia married Raymond Guthrie, they had three daughters, Janna, Shara and Kara. She later went to work for the Enid State School and was a secret shopper for Woolco. After her marriage to Raymond ended, she returned to work at the Enid State School/NORCE until her retirement in 1996, where she was the Assistant Supervisor of housekeeping. She was a loving Aunt, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. Her smile lit up the room when she walked in.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Janna Pelletier and husband Dale and Shara Myers and husband Keith, both of Enid, step-son Patrick Martinez and wife, Donna, Holly Springs, NC. Her grandchildren: Roxanne Biggs, Ronald James, Ty Biggs, James White, Tara Pelletier, Patience Rice, and Christeena Fee, her step-grandchildren: Evan, Randi and Owen Martinez and Great grandchildren: Austin Glasscock, Autumn James, Dorian James, Emily Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Ashton Fee, Alexander Pelletier, Ezekiel Fee and Faith Austin. Her niece, Diane Kitzmiller and husband, Donald, Blanchard, MI, her nephew, Michael Parkhill and wife Diane, Pullman, MI, her nephew John Cariker and wife Rhonda of Enid and several great nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Evelyn Cariker and Mary Parkhill, her sons, James Choate and Kevin Biggs and her daughter, Kara Guthrie, her husband, Raymond Guthrie and her special friend, Tony Martinez.
