Orvil was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He also had several jobs in his life working at Gold Spot Dairy, Bond Bakery, had his own milk cream and egg route, Superior Station. He owned and operated Velma’s 81 Café in Hennessey, Milam’s Tire Service and Milam Trucking. They made their home in Waukomis, and he worked in oilfield and retired from Kingfisher County at the age of 69 and then returned to work and retired again at the age of 82.
He loved to ride his motorcycle. Orvil and Velma were members of the Cristian Motorcyclist Association. He gave his life to Christ in the early 1980’s and surrendered to preach and was a licensed and ordained Baptist Preacher. He served as Pastor for Freedom Baptist Church, Hunter Baptist Church and Madison Avenue Baptist Church and served in other churches as a fill in Pastor.
Before Velma died, she told him to buy him a new Harley, so he did. He rode it as much as he could. He was always smiling and dancing everywhere he went. We know Orvil is rejoicing in Heaven with Velma and his family.
