CHIRP will include information on any arrests a person has that have been submitted to the OSBI. This includes municipal arrests and arrests dating back to 1925. Arrests are supported by fingerprints. If you search CHIRP and receive results, you can feel certain every arrest on that record is for that individual. These are the same name-based background checks the OSBI has been doing since 1985. Before you had to go to OKC, mail or fax the request to them with a check for $15. CHIRP is the same cost for the same product BUT it is faster and more convenient through the portal.

The Oklahoma Open Records Act was established to ensure the public's right of access to government records. Oklahoma criminal history information is maintained by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the designated repository for fingerprint-based criminal history information for the state of Oklahoma. The OSBI conducts name-based criminal history searches for the public pursuant to the Oklahoma Open Records Act.
