Olive was a product of Enid Public Schools, attending Garfield Grade School, Longfellow Junior High and then became a 1942 graduate of Enid High School and then proceeded to Enid Business College. During her high school years, she was very active in Rainbow girls, serving as a Worthy Advisor and held the state office of Grand Love. After completing her training at the Enid Business College, she started working at the Pillsbury Mills Co. from 1943 to 1947 and enjoyed serving as a Red Cross Nurses Aid and a “USO girl” during WW II in her free time during the days of war. She then went on to serve as the secretary for Central Christian Church from 1947 to 1949. It was at that time a young man who had just started at Pillsbury as the plant accountant “heard” about Olive and persistently called the church to ask her out. His tenacity paid off with a blind date at the Chit Chat cafe and Duane Edward Traylor from Drummond, OK became her husband on March 25, 1949. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage. Olive was a wonderful wife and mother for her family, which included four girls, Deborah Anne, Donna Louise, Norma Sue and Nancy Ellen. Her unconditional love for her husband and her girls and unshakeable faith in God made her the wife and mother that will always be cherished-she was always very proud of her family and was always there for us.
She was a charter member of Willow Road Christian Church for 35 and one-half years. In addition to being a vital part of the soprano section in the choir, she put her heart into teaching children’s Sunday School, directed Vacation Bible School for many years, served as a deaconess and presided over the Christian Women’s Fellowship for several terms. At the time of her death, she was a member of Central Christian Church. While at Central, she was active in the Sooner Sunday school class and Christian Women’s Fellowship where she had served as president for two terms in addition to being active in her fellowship circle. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, daughter Deborah Anne Traylor, husband Duane E. Traylor, brothers Gerald, John and Ron Maphet, sisters Almeda Shaw and Ethel Jorgenson. She is survived three daughters and their families; Donna and husband Paul Kaminsky and their daughters, Alex and Katie; Norma and husband Bob Duane and their sons, Paul and his wife Karanae, Michael and his wife Tracy and great grandson Timothy, Andrew and his wife Elizabeth, and Luke; and daughter Nancy and her husband John Burgett and her children Charlie and his wife Marci Ray and great granddaughter Charlotte, Ellen and David Ray, and stepchildren John and Melissa Burgett, parents of Gentry , Oliver and Henry Burgett, and Levi and Betsy Burgett, parents of Laila and Archie Burgett.
