ENID, OK - Northern Oklahoma College Enid is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Tuesday, Aug. 1 to celebrate the newly remodeled Mackie Planetarium.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. with remarks at 6:45 p.m. A planetarium show will follow at 7 p.m.
The Bert and Janice Mackie Planetarium is on the NOC Enid Campus at Michael Hedges Blvd in Enid.
The Ribbon Cutting is sponsored by the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce.
The newly remodeled building also has new equipment for NOC Enid’s Astronomy Program.
Upgrades to the Mackie Planetarium were made possible by Bert and Janice Mackie and the Presidential Partners Program, both through the NOC Foundation, and the NASA MAIANSE connecting Indigenous Culture and Science Through Co-design of STEM Ecosystems Grant - Exploring the Sun and the night sky.
The regularly scheduled monthly planetarium show is set of Thursday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. Admission is free though non-perishable donations of food are accepted.
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.
