ENID, OK - Progress is being made with the construction of two new entryway signs in Enid. The new signs to greet motorist are being constructed on South Highway 81 and on East Owen K. Garriott Road near 30th street.
-
City Manager Jerald Gilbert said, “I’m excited to see the progress regarding the development of the two new entryway signs. The updated designs continue to reinforce our brand and there’s more to come.”
-
Gilbert added, “our hope is the new color entryway signs will be one way to welcome individuals to our community and remind motorists that Enid is a community overflowing with boundless opportunities, building on an original heritage, and pulsing with a vibrant quality of life.”
-
The 2015-2016 Fiscal Year Budget showed the project for the entryway signs was budgeted at $130,000. The first design was projected to cost $127,000 but it was not approved. At the May 17 study session, Brent Kisling, Executive Director ERDA, introduced a city wide Wayfinding signage program.
-
At that meeting, associates from Corbin Design talked about a new design and cost estimate of the entrance signs. The new cost estimate of the signs was $40,000 each without electrical hookup.

A Look back on the HISTORY of the new Enid Brand:
-
The City of Enid Oklahoma Government partnered with Visit Enid, Enid Regional Development Alliance, Enid Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Enid, Inc. to create the Enid First Committee. The Enid First Committee also included interested citizen volunteers that were passionate about the future of Enid.
-
The goal of the Enid First Committee was to rebrand Enid, and give the citizens a fresher, more relevant identity. The five groups and the citizen volunteers met monthly for over a year to redefine the Enid of the present and the future. Once the Enid First Committee had established the basis of the new brand, a consultant specializing in brand development was brought in to bring the ideas to life.
-
The three words that the Committee felt best symbolized the spirit of Enid were: Boundless, Vibrant and Original. Using these three characteristics the Committee and the consultant collaborated to finalize the new Enid brand. After a year of collaboration, the new brand was unveiled on May 24, 2012, to thunderous applause from all those in attendance.

So instead of fixing our roads or building a better animal shelter or fixing different road signs they are going to tear our historian signs down and spend money on new signs. The city of Enid needs to pull they head out of they ass and the money on stuff that this town really needs. I like living here….. But now its starting to become okc town it seems like. So no I’m not all for the new signs. I think it is bull****
Typical Enid. Of course our town is wasting money on signs when the town is ravished with pot holes, there are no lines on the streets, and we have starving children and homeless on the streets but what we really need is useless $130,000 signs. Thanks to whoever the asshats are that decided to do this
Definitely like our local art *Boomer* sculpture art over a computer generated graphic art piece.
I won’t say what I want to right now. But can I ask, Jerald, why you feel this is necessary? This just adds to the growing list of projects that are unpopular to the tax payers in this town. If you want those ugly piece of overpriced **** erected, why don’t YOU pay for it? Maybe that’s a question many are asking. Maybe tax payers are the ones who should pull their heads out of their asses and ask you in public every time they see you.
Btw, made a profit on that event center yet? Kind of hard to make that happen when half the seats are empty even after the tickets are offered free to whoever wants them. We told you so when we told you no.
OK I’m inserting my opinion Enid does all this and roads , homeless, less fortunate suffer for the cause yepp glad I left Enid how ridiculous.
I think it looks awesome.
