Milton R. Eggers

A Celebration of Life service for Milton R. Eggers age 95 of Fairmont will be 10:00 am Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Blakeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Milton Raymond Eggers was born to Helene (Hedemann) and Christian Martin (CM) Eggers on the family farm on April 10, 1925. He died in the Lord on Nov. 17, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He graduated from Garber High School in 1943. Milton proudly served his country during WWII with the 1st Marine Division in the battle for Okinawa, where he was wounded and received a purple heart. He married Leola (Lee) Lemke at Zion Lutheran Church on March 6, 1959, and they made their home on the family farm near Fairmont where he farmed, raised his family, and lived until his death. When not farming he was a carpenter and helped build many homes in Garfield County. Milton was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont and served the Church in many ways, as a member and serving on the Church council as secretary and trustee for many years. He also served many years on the Fairmont CO-OP Board.

Milton is survived by his son John and wife Lara of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; son Joel and wife Vicki of Fairmont; daughter Ann and husband Ted Williams of Coppell, TX; and daughter-in-law Janine Eggers of Manhattan, NY; 14 grandchildren: Whitney Eggers, Kayley Eggers, Lauren Gau husband Ben, Spencer Eggers, Parker Eggers and wife Hayley, Conner Eggers, Sophie Eggers, Michael Guerra and wife NaTasha, Nathaniel Martin, Devin Martin and wife Brittany, Hannah Williams, Hayden Williams, Greta Williams, and Bess Williams; and 11 great grandchildren: Miles Guerra, Mason Guerra, Merylee Guerra, Draven Martin, Angelica Hytle, Kaiya Martin, Tristan Martin, Josiah Eggers, Evan Eggers, James Eliana Gau, and Noah Eggers. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lee, son James, and his brother and three sisters.

Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Fairmont and to LCMS Seminary Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
