Giving back to the community is important to Mike Stuber, and his service to others is potentially moving to a state level, as he announced his intention today to file for the District 40 seat, representing Enid in the Oklahoma Legislature.
With Representative Mike Jackson recently announcing he does not plan to run for re-election, Stuber sees this as an ideal time for him to move from local public service to a larger role. “My time as city commissioner has fueled interest in working to make our community better, and I would like to take part in leadership where it would have even more impact. Enid has had a strong voice with Representative Jackson, and I would like to step up and continue his good work,” says Stuber, who also explained he has the time and professional support to make this commitment and could continue working from Enid, but also from the Wymer Brownlee location in Oklahoma City.
After a successful career in business, Stuber joined Wymer Brownlee as a wealth manager in 2012 to work with individuals, families, and business owners. During his three-year tenure as an elected City Commissioner, Stuber has been a champion for economic development, chairing two TIF committees and successfully leading the charge to pass Garfield County’s first initiative petition in over 30 years as well as a successful election with a 68.7% victory. He is an advocate for: economic development, quality of life issues and amenities, Vance AFB and quality education.
Bill Shewey, Enid’s mayor, says, “Mike would bring a business owner's perspective to our state capital, which would be beneficial to many. He has served Enid well and I am confident he would work diligently for Enid and our state if he is elected to this position.”
After attending Oklahoma State University, Mike moved to Enid where he serves as an Enid City Commissioner and through service on numerous boards and committees including: Enid Regional Development Alliance, Enid/Garfield and Major County 911 board, Enid Public Transportation Authority, Enid Hall of Fame selection committee, Leadership Greater Enid board of directors and Growing Hope Network board of directors.
Stuber has also been active with Enid Young Professionals, Cherokee Strip PRCA Stampede Rodeo, Enid’s United Way Fundraising Campaign, Miss Enid Scholarship Pageant, Christmas In April and Enid Park Board. He is a member of Enid Noon AMBUCs, Enid Rotary Club, and a graduate of Leadership Greater Enid, Class XVIII. He is the proud father of a daughter, Mikalyn, attending Enid High School and a son, Dae, attending Emerson Middle School.
