Michael John Conrady

A family and friends gathering to celebrate the life of Michael John Conrady, 61 of Fairmont, will be held January 2, 2018, from noon to 2pm at Pleasant Vale Elementary school cafeteria, 6020 E. Willow, Enid, Oklahoma.

Michael was born February 28, 1956, in Anthony, Kansas to Ralph Robert Conrady and Dorothy Mae (Metzinger) Conrady. He grew up on the family farm outside Wakita, Oklahoma and attended Wakita Public School, graduating with the class of 1974. He married Pat Lacy in Wakita and on October 28, 1974, a daughter, Sheila Michelle Conrady was born.

In 1977, Mike moved to Enid, Oklahoma and began work for Haliburton. On October 13, 1978, he married Shelly (Carman) Conrady. To this union, a son, Corey James and a daughter, Jamie Grace were born. Throughout their 39 years of marriage, Mike and Shelly lived in Enid, then moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where he worked for Grace/Terra Nitrogen and owned and operated Conrady Diesel. In 1997, the family moved to the Conrady family farm outside Wakita, eventually moving into the town of Wakita. During this time, Mike was self employed and then worked for Enid Mack. Later, Mike and Shelly moved to Fairmont, OK, and Mike continued working in the diesel industry, teaching and mentoring many career mechanics. He passed away on December 30, 2017, comfortably at home.

Mike enjoyed camping with family and friends and insisted on a campfire no matter the weather, watching lightening shows and watching the moon. He also took interest in tinkering around the house and in his shop.

Michael is survived by his wife, Shelly, daughter Sheila (Conrady) Even and husband Richard of Norman, Oklahoma, son Corey Conrady and wife Megan of Enid, Oklahoma, daughter Jamie (Conrady) Lee and husband Nathan of Enid, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, Jamison, Jourdan, Archer, Ava, Jaxon, Abram and Layton, and one great grandson Daniel. He leaves behind five sisters, Carolyn Thompson, Lynda Parker, Patricia Thurman, Phyllis Blanton, and Janet Frazier, and three brothers, Don Conrady, Bob Conrady, and John Conrady, as well as many close family members and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gary and Charles, and a sister, Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love, 314 S. Third, Enid, OK 73701, or Leonardo’s Children’s Museum, PO Box 348, Enid, OK 73702.
